This morning we heard a raucous pair of Mealy Amazons fly into the Jabillo Tree in our immediate back yard. The Amazons come every year to eat the green Jabillo seed pods. When I focused in, I saw that one of the pair is very plucked and I´m fairly sure that I have seen this pair three other times in the four years we have been living here! The first four darker photos were taken this morning and the others were taken in 2018 and 2021 (dates are in the caption of each photo). I think it´s remarkable that this bird continues to live an apparently healthy life in the wild in this condition!

Questa mattina abbiamo sentito un rauco paio di Amazzoni Farinose volare nell’albero di Jabillo nel nostro cortile sul retro. Le Amazzoni vengono ogni anno per mangiare i baccelli di semi di Jabillo verdi. Quando mi sono concentrato, ho visto che uno dei due è molto spennato e sono abbastanza sicuro di aver visto questo paio altre tre volte nei quattro anni in cui abbiamo vissuto qui!
Le foto più scure sono state scattate questa mattina e le altre sono state scattate nel 2018 e nel 2021.
Penso che sia straordinario che questo uccello continui a vivere una vita apparentemente sana in natura in queste condizioni!
